Team Applications Now Being Taken

May 2008

The Region D Homeland Security Committee and Missouri Fire and Rescue Training will provide and General Staff Functions for Local Incident Management Teams in May at Springfield-Greene County Emergency Management Office. This 6 day program will be presented May 7-9 and 14-16. This class will provide training to new and existing members of the Southwest Missouri Incident Support Team. The training was developed by the National Fire Academy and will be the Pilot presentation in the state of Missouri.  



March 2008
The team was deployed by the State Fire Marshal's Office to Piedmont Missouri on March 20 and 21. The Southwest Missouri Team replaced the Central Missouri Team which had been on site for three days. Piedmont was affected by a flood that affected a large portion of the city and disrupted the cities water supply for several days.


February 2008

The Region D Homeland Security Oversight Committee has approved a grant to the Southwest Missouri Incident Support Team for additional equipment and training for 2008.The team was funded for $15,000 for additional Local IMT training classes, and $3500.00 for travel expenses for upcoming Position Specific training.Additional equipment which will be purchased soon will be a large format printer, an radio interconnect that will allow sharing of frequencies with multiple radios, and additional computer equipment that will be used on a Command trailer provided by Greene County EMA. The Southwest Missouri Incident Support Team would like to thank Region D RHSOC for thier financial support of the IST.



Jan 2008

The National Fire Academy will be providing Command and General Staff Functions for Local IMT's to the states in late January.

This will provide us the opportunity to provide this training in Missouri in late April or early May. This is a six day (tentative) class.

We will schedule it in two sections. This class should be taken by all members who did not attend the Type 3 training classes held earlier in the state.



Dec 12, 2007
Members of the team deployed to the City of Lamar during the devastating ice storm. The team assisted the county EOC with organizatoin of state and local response assets, and assisted with creating an IAP for several operational periods. The team was deployed for a total of four days.

We have recieved all the equipment for the Incident Support Team and have organized it on a 14 foot trailer. It is stored indoors, and the IST members have 24 hour access. We want to thank Region D Regional Homeland Security Oversight Comittee for their funding support.

The Southwest Missouri Incident Support Team has recieved a grant through the Regional.Homeland Security Oversight Committe. This grant will be used for training and equipment to support the IST. We thank the RHSOC for this funding for the team and will put it to good use in organizing the team. Equipment that will be purchased will be computers and network equipment, communications equipment, logistical needs to support the team and a trailer to store and transport the equipment.
